Google Apps is a service from Google that allows a company to utilize various web applications from Google. The fee-based service allows the company to use its own domain name, rather than Google's, for email. It features several Web applications with similar functionality to traditional business software. The Premier Edition, which offers document storage and the ability to integrate various third-party business web applicatioins through the Google Apps Marketplace is available for an annual fee of $50 per user.

Web applications in Google Apps

The applications included in the fee-based Google Apps service include:

  • Gmail for business: 25GB storage
  • Google Calendar
  • Google Docs: Documents, spreadsheets, and presentations.
  • Google Groups: User-created groups providing mailing lists, content sharing, searchable archives.
  • Google Sites: Coding-free web pages for intranets and team managed sites.
  • Google Video: Private hosted video sharing.
  • Google Cloud Connect for Microsoft Office: Cloud-based hosting for collaboration on Microsoft Office applications.
